Directory methodology

An entry needs a stable https URL, a category, a one-line description of at most 140 characters, and the date it was added. Descriptions state what the product is. They are not scores and not a winner list.

Trending repositories come from GitHub's public trending pages. The URL is https://github.com/owner/repo and the description is taken from that repository. Other entries are well-known tools checked by hand.

Before publish, every URL is requested with a browser user agent. Entries that do not return a success or redirect status are removed. A bot wall on a site we already verified can be rechecked with GET.

"New this week" means the entry's added date is within the seven calendar days ending on the build day. It is not a popularity rank.
