Cohere trial keys

Cohere documents two key types: evaluation keys, which are free but limited, and production keys, which are paid and less limited. Trial keys, and production keys on newer Chat model variants, are limited to 1,000 API calls a month. Production keys work like trial keys for newer model variants such as Command A Reasoning. The page says to contact sales@cohere.com for production use of those models. The rate-limits page is for the v2 API.

Data use

The privacy policy defines Trial Users as people on a free trial account with no payment method on file. For Trial Users and Researchers, Cohere collects content submitted to the products and outputs generated by them, and may use that input and output to conduct research and development, including improving performance and safety. The policy says to not submit personal information as a Trial User, that inputs and outputs are de-identified before research use, and that deletion of inadvertently included personal information can be requested at privacy@cohere.com. Enterprise users are described separately and can control how Cohere trains on their data.

How to get a key

Create a trial or production key on the Cohere API keys page. The rate-limits doc links that dashboard page directly.
