GitHub Models is retired

GitHub’s current Models page does not list a free catalog or rate limits. It says GitHub Models has been retired. As of July 30, 2026, GitHub Models has been fully retired. The playground, model catalog, inference API, and bring your own key (BYOK) are no longer available to any customer.

The same page says GitHub Models was a separate service from GitHub Copilot and is unrelated to GitHub Copilot services. It points readers to Azure AI Foundry for a model catalog and to GitHub Copilot for AI workflows on GitHub.

What is not on the page

• No RPM, TPM, or RPD table remains.
• No data-use terms for the retired inference API are on this page.
• No key-creation step remains. BYOK is named as no longer available.

Older blog posts about a GitHub Models free preview are not used here. The only limits statement this page can make is the retirement itself.
